Default Help! Oil Drain Problems!

So I just bought a 97 ex coupe and when I went to change the oil I found out the person who had it previously put the wrong stopper in the oil drain. Not only is it too big yet somehow they managed to shove it in the hole, but I guess bc it is too big, when they tried taking it out they stripped it and now it is stuck smh any ideas on how to get the thing out???? someone help lol or am I better off just taking it to a mechanic and letting someone else deal with it? any ideas would be awesome

Pulling the pan with it full of oil is a royal PITA and quite messy.

You could try a ratchet and a flat tip screw driver. Use the ratched to turn the bolt while you pry against it to apply back out force. With the combo of turning and mildly prying it may start to back out and let you drain the oil before dropping the pan.

If that doesn't work the other option is vice grip pliers locked onto the nut and you can pull as you twist counter clockwise.

If you still can't get the bolt to start backing out then the only option left is grumblemarc's which is messy and a royal PITA to deal with.

Go to a shop that uses a vacuum to remove your oil thru the dip stick hole.

If you're lucky, you could snake some tubing through the dip stick hole and siphon the oil out, and then drop the pan, if TomCat39's suggestions don't work.

I remember those kits. Definitely get a pump for that.

Well...if the pan is already ruined, why just chisel a hole in it or drill out a drain hole.

Get a replacement pan first. Destroy the old one.
