D16Z6 block with Y7 head

Default D16Z6 block with Y7 head

Here it goes, something odd that I have to go through. I've read through a bunch of threads on a bunch of forums to try and resolve my issue and answer my question(s). So I make a post here.
There is a long story behind what I have and why I have it and what happened. But to cut to the chase I have a D16z6 block, all stock with a header and CAI. And a D16y7 head.

I know the y7 head isn't Vtec. I would like to keep the Vtec feature on my engine.
How would I go about doing this?
I have the original z6 head, but it is cracked.
I'm nearly **** poor broke at this point and need my car up and running.
Is it just as easy as putting the Vtec solenoid onto the y7 head and going on with it?
What do I need to do?

Timing everything after it's all done is a problem also. Does the head need to be retarded or advanced? If so, how much.
Also which head gasket do I use? I have a brand new one for the z6, is it bad to use on the y7?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the y7 head doesnt have anything at all to support VTEC otherwise, people would be just adding VTEC ***** nilly and not doing the Frankenswaps. or Z6/Y8 swaps.

You don't. Get a VTEC head. If you're using the P28 ECU you'll be throwing codes all day long. No one really does swaps like this to downgrade their engine.

Well sadly as it is, I didn't get these two by choice. It was a rip off Craig's list, and like a dumba** I didn't follow the codes for the head I needed when the guy first arrived.
So im out on $100 for two heads that I can use, but are crappy.
Any idea what a selling price for both of the heads would be?

I can see why you think when i said crappy heads that they were bad, but I was meaning crappy as in a terrible swap to do, odd at that.
I've searched all over forums and Google, but it's such an odd job, very so few people have done it or tried.
I ended up trading the two heads for the one I need.

why dont you just put vtec assembly in the other head 🤔
