Weak clutch
Hey everyone. So, I have a problem with the clutch in my 98 prelude. This morning I was going to work. Started the vehicle and when I pushed the clutch I thought it was a bit weak. Fast forward, I got out of work and could barely get the clutch to engage to shift into first. When I got home, I checked it out and my clutch has to be depressed 50% before I even feel some tension. The springs are fine and I have never encountered this problem before. Was looking for a bit of help in figuring this out. I think I may need to bleed the clutch? The car sat in storage for 6 months and the reserve was empty so I refilled it. Thinking air may be in the line. Thanks for the help!
If the clutch fluid reservoir was empty/nearly empty then I'd say that you probably just need to bleed the system. Since you'll be down there anyway, I'd also inspect the slave cylinder to ensure that it isn't worn and leaking.
i had this problem in my 98 prelude as well. my slave cylinder was sticking which caused my pedal to be weak and when applied it barely disengaged the clutch. replace the slave cylinder and i would recommend replacing the master cylinder as well since they are like units.
