Default 88crxvtec - freshen up the CRX

So I decided I would start one of these logs on what I'm doing to the CRX.

How she sat, she was running well but needed a good going through. Been built and boosted for over 8 years. Decided to go through everything and do some updates and upgrades.

You can see the tight quarters of having a turbocharged CRX.

Another view.

Just imagine the room if it was all motor!

Slowly but surely

Parts piles are growing

Decided to replace the old traction bar with a new one from innovative. Should give me more room in the turbo area if I decide to go bigger......

Guessing the wastegate had a little leak on the dump tube.

Found the gasket was holding coolant and that is where a coolant smell was coming from. Will be matching the gasket or using a hondata style.

Hot side

Floating

My brother (nsxmatt) came over and picked it up and put it on the floor for me. Pulled the transmission.

Next pulled the cams and head off to get work done.

Cylinders looked good. Smooth but crosshatching gone in #3, due to bad tune from an unnamed tuner. Looks like a hone, rings, and bearings might take care of it.

Head is going to get a 3 way angle job and new seals.

Sending the housings to get ceramic coated along with the manifold, downpipe and dump tube.

Upgrading the fuel pump and fuel system.

Head is back and looks great. Ready for more boost.

Getting ready to pull the rods and pistons.

new exhaust studs, mount bolts and cam seal

New radiator, bigger but will tuck and give more room.

Manifold came back from getting ceramic coated:

Along with the dump tube and downpipe:

And the exhaust housing on the turbo, cold side is powdercoated black

Went ahead and got some other things powder coated:

Block is back together with some new toys inside Weisco coated pistons thanks to nolimitmotorsports along with ACL bearings.

Repainted the engine bay:

Tucked the brake lines (repainting the crossmember so no worries about overspray)

Reintroducing the head to the block:

More to come soon!

Looks great man! Glad to see you giving the old girl some love . What brake tuck kit did you use? Thinking of switching to the innovative traction bar as well, Seems like a nice piece.

Rywire brake tuck. I went back and forth about deleting the brake booster, but decided I like having it. It's a good kit. Only have to flare two lines but I removed the dash and everything when I did it.
