Replacing starter on 2007 civic.
Pretty sure I have ruled out battery and alternator for weak crank. Looking for any tips on removing the starter. Do I have to remove the exhaust pipe to gain access?
If it's an Si, no. The starter is on the bumper side of the block under the intake manifold.
If it's an EX or lower (R18 block), yes. The starter is on the firewall side of the block.
Confirmed by using the pictures found on Majestic Hondas website. Recognized by the tranny locations for each block.

My error!! The R18 runs its exhaust off the bumper side!! You will find the starter under your intake manifold.
I was surprised to see the R18 exhausting like the old D series, despite the fact it is right side mounted. You should be able to get underneath and pull it out with minimum parts removal.

Finally did the starter(it gave out completely and had to have it towed home). What a nightmare! Without my friend who is a pretty good mechanic I would have never been able to do it. Honda could have designed that a lot better
