Is a craftsman 6"x 48" belt sander 9" disc sander combo worth messing with? I can pick a brand new one up for free from my dad, but if it's not up to the task, I'll just let him keep it instead of cluttering up my garage.

 

yea they work well for Automotive stuff.

 

especially if it's an older one, new stuff is junk. It's getting hard to find good tools anywhere, also never turn down tools from your dad, mine even gives me junk ones, but I will never get rid of them
