Have a 93 del Sol with H22 swap. Will renew the car and whole suspension. The car will be for street and some drag racing, having fun.

Need your advice, experience, recommendations on which parts, brand, what to and what not to do.

Plan to:
1. Install Energy suspension polyurethane bushings (complete kit). Good idea or is better the stock black bishings?

2. Shocks/struts. Thinking on Monroe from Advance. Good price and are near stock. Heard that KYB are too hard/rigid.

3. Springs. Want springs that lower no more than ~1.5", not too high but don't want a set that lowers to 2.5".
Tein H-Tech, H&R black, Eibach (don't know which is higher). Don't want cheap coil over from eBay. Any good coil over option please post.

You're throwing pieces at this car. You don't need anything special for drag racing. The formula isn't difficult though. Hard springs in the back to prevent weight transfer to the back. The back of the car jacked up to shift as much weight as possible to the front.

Dont buy any parts store shocks. Those Monroe shocks belong maybe on a 1982 Ford pickup.

Don't waste your money on those tein coilovers or the tophats (why?).

Your stock suspension will work. But you can buy Koni yellows and ground control springs with custom rates for drag racing and adjust front damping to reduce wheel hop. Wheel hop will be your greatest enemy.

Maybe the energy bushings will work for you since you're just drag racing. You'll need to switch them out every 2 years or sooner. So...prepare to be in a bad mood once every 1-2 years. Hard bushings and motor mounts reduce wheel hop.

If there's a way to preload the front control arms on 5th and 6th gen civics, I'd look into that too.

I think eibach sells a drag launch kit. Not sure if it's available for civics.

Edit: just saw you said street and drag.

-don't buy those energy bushings for street use. Use stiffer motor mounts, a good clutch, and your left foot to reduce wheel hop.

-don't go over board on the spring rates.

-buy a camber kit and make the camber angle 0 up front.

 

Try the drag racing or suspension forums and see what kind of luck people are having with similar chassis/engine combinations. Might take some trial and error out of it. But..dialing in a suspension inherently takes time and trial and error.

Try to provide more info...tire size and type...power level....expertise level...etc.

 

What shocks? It will be more for street that for serious drag racing.

I have to buy everything new. Think that right now it have some cheap coil overs on front and other unknown springs on rear. Don't want to spend an eye, but doesn't want to go too cheap.

It wont be dayli drive car, will be sitting on the garage most of the time.

I would still recommend against energy or any poly bushings. But...if you'd like to know what I'm talking about, you can always install them lol. Even with the car just sitting...they will start to oblong out.

Hardrace makes a good rubber bushing set for heavy duty use.

Koni and ground controls are $800. Same as teins. The teins are a very general application. They'll work...but the Koni/Gc can be specialized to work better. You can't go very low with koni/GC though. Don't listen to anyone who tells you you can.
