Default 92 Lude H23A help

I've looked for a few days now, still can't find anything. My car is leaking oil, not sure from where or what else to analyze. Replaced the valve cover gasket, cam seal with a metal one and the pcv valve. Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Symptoms: Leaking, splatters up on the inside of the hood, no leak while idling, only when driven. thanks in advanced.

how far do you drive before it starts to look like that ?

i would put cardboard on top of the areas that could at least narrow it down and go for a rip..

Wow, that looks severe. Thoroughly clean the engine bay. Then keep a close eye on whats happening. Once it is super clean, you will be able to tell.

I took it to a mechanic, who's been a buddy of mine for years. He cleaned it, let it run for like an hour he said, he said he saw no leak. The car drives good, pulls hard and it seems good, only thing is pin pointing where the leak is coming from, but I'll take all of the suggestions and clean it out then put something under the hood to help me determine the leak

Well, its impossible to tell from the pics, but when you clean it, I would be careful to inspect the area around the distributor. When that O ring goes bad it leaks… but I have never seen one do what yours is doing… hmmm

Holy sheet man... haha that no "leak" thats strait spraying... Any lights for low oil pressure?

I know its common fir the o-ring on the dizzy and the vtec solenoid to leak after awhile. But those tend to be slow leaks most of the time. Only other things are the VC/plug gaskets, or cam plug.

lol if you have a go pro take your hood off and set it up and go for a drive until she blows like Old Faithful. Then you will know exactly where.

I'm dropping off the car at a buddies today, I'll look in to all the suggestions here. I'm afraid if I run the car with no hood, it will jiz on the windshield which sounds funny but will probably be a pain to clean off, I'll keep you guys posted once I find out why my car likes to jiz on the hood when drive it

The mechanic still messing with it, he thinks it might be a blow by issue, says he's going to drive it with out the hood and watch for the stream, see where it's coming from, as suggested on here, will have an update later today, fingers crossed is nothing serious.

If it happens when driving but not stopped, makes me think tranny more than engine, or the engine is dripping fluid onto the axle, which is flinging it back up somehow.

Still leaks, I noticed that if I drive it very mild and keep it under 4k it does not spray, if I step on it to either pass someone or something, it will spray in the hood. It's non V-tec, dual cam H23a, hoping to figure out more next week when I have some free time

Never seen anything like that before. I hope you're able to figure it out, that is one hell of a leak/eruption.

In for results. Good luck.

What kind of tape could a person put around the valve cover that would handle the heat

Wondering if you did that, revved it so it sprayed if you could see it..

Knowing the h23 has butterflies that open over 4k in the intake mani, I wonder if it has something to do with it ... but then again, only coolant flows through the IM ... hmm.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the solution to this.

if it only does it when driving and not when revving it hard in neutral its possibly an axle seal

I've checked under the car, it only has the oil that drips from up top, when I Park the car it leaves the same 3 oil stains, so this issue is getting annoying. I've cleaned off the engine bay, issue is that when she squirts all over, everything is bathed in oil, so figuring it out is a biotch, but I got a buddy who knows more than me and he will give me a hand, in the mean time, I check the oil and it's still good, so drive it for now til further notice.

On another note, does anyone know if the headers of the F22A will fit my H23A IDK if to do that or get eBay headers, my car Sounds like a truck because the muffler is a goner

Soooooooooo, I was told that the cam holder is cracked and that's where she squirts from, right from her slit/crack. So anyone have any suggestions, where I can get one or anything like that? thanks in advanced

Your best bet will be the junkyard.

Any H23A1 Engine will have the same part. Junkyard is most def your best bet.

if I lived in US I could probably hunt one down for you, shipping from canada would be ridiculous. Glad to know what the issue now, makes a lot of sense.

for replacement, as you will learn from pulling it from the junkyard, pretty much a matter of taking off the valve cover and the couple of bolts holding that piece down. The helms talks about loosening all the bolts for the entire camshafts in order, but I would just worry about replacing the end without undoing anything else. I do believe you'll need some hondabond/liquid gasket to complete seal the unit.

Not sure when the last time is that you changed your cam seal but if you had previous oil leaks onto your transmission, now is the right time to swap that out as well.

Let us know how it goes.

It can be a little confusing for someone to hear it called a cam seal instead of a cam plug. It's more of a plug than a seal.

Thanks Yohan, I appreciate the help. In the search for the leak I replaced the valve cover gasket, cam seal/plug, distributor seal, so those three are out of the way, now I just need to find an H23, because where I live, the few junkyards close by, do not seem to have any. Thanks a lot guys, i'll keep everyone posted once I get the beast fixed up
