timing belt... what's the WORST that can HAPPEN?????
Well my car is at honda right now. They tell me that the timing belt broke and water-pump blew.
I was driving at about 60mph/2500RPM when the car died.
*now the got done replacing timing belt & ater-pump..... the honda tech guy says that the car is not running right like it should.
******what could it be?
-what else could could possible be damaged(inside motor) rings? spun a bearing?
blow a rod? tell me ??????

Not just.....bent/broken valves, Holes in pistons, destroyed sleeves, rod and crank damage, oil pump, water pump.....the worst thing that can happen is total loss of the engine which in turn at high speeds will take the tranny with it.

I just bought thsii motor like 1.5 years ago from nippon motors. right know the total is about $1400(towing, new timing belt, water pump, labor, and wheel bearing......not sure if they did the wheel bearing yet, hope not)
*******guys tonight please help pray for my motor in any way you can
Not likely, but you never know with interference motors.
Also, a Mercedes mechanic told me that timing chains can and will still stretch and break, just not as quickly...and that you should still replace the timing chain. The only thing that's really changed is the service interval.
At the minimum, you should run a compression test to see if you're losing compression through a bent or cocked valve. If you did lose compression, pull the head and look at the piston(s) and valves. Fill the ports with carb cleaner and check for leaks past the valves.
No need to freak. Just fix the problem and carry on.

You should have replaced the belt anyways when you bought the motor.
**UPDATE**
honda just called me back and said that there is a problem in the 3rd cylinder. we will see what happends

seriously tho, I would check the top of all ur pistons (or have them do it)
either way, it is something probably pretty expensive.
mike
does anyone in here actually know what block he has and if it is a interferance motor.
cuz my d16z6 is zero-interferance. so it wouldn't matter if i was doing 7.2k and my timing belt went.
I have to agree with the timing chain coment though. I wish these things had'm and i've been thinking about swapping mine for one eventually.

Just why I wish we all had timing chains... Oh well.
slightly louder and more parasitic drag
Worth it.

honda calls me back they tell me that the 3rd cly is out. they want me to spend another $1200:
*take off aftermarket parts
*take off head
*prep and clean head
*ship out head to machine shop to have it worked on
*port & polished, new valve & valve seals miscellanous gaskets
*labor putting all back together.
***right now it's runing but really poorly.
--total cost was $950(timing belt, water pump, towing and labor) and my car still isn't fixed.
**** honda... they wasted my money for *****.

my timing belt snapped at idle after just 54k on the odometer, that car is 7 years old, it bent all the valves from the 2, 3, and 4 cylinders, so whether or not ur at some high rpm or a moderate one such as 2,500, they're gonna have to check to make sure

YOU broke your timing belt
that is what makes your engine WORK
dont blame them because they tried the basics first before they ripped your head off.
you need a new motor now. sorry. look on the birght side, you can upgrade.
same thing happened here, at idle though, my timing belt fell off, because the ****** idiots at honda didn't put the main bolt that holds it together properly, and bent two of my valves, that was at idle, hope you don't have any cracked pistons man, that would be very shitty!
I would suggest to get your head re and re done through the machine shop yourself, they probably have some regular guy, that would do it for alot cheaper then honda would, that's what i did! Preferably a private guy, you'll save some cash! Seems like you need to!

OR pull the head and send it to the machine shop with some valves, vlave seals and some money. To replace the valves it gonna run $50 min. May be more if they have to check each valve to figure which is bent. I just did a LS motor; headgasket, timing belt, pistons rings and valve seals and other misc. gaskets and selas. $1100 OEM parts included. If you can find a compentant mechanic around you take it there. Good luck

dude you should of told them that in the first place
i got some parts if you need them.
stock f22 stuff... also might have a h22 head available. not sure yet
i need a h22 block. i have aftermarket pisotns and rods.. just need somethig to resleeve and add them to.. i dont want to use mine.. i want one to be sent off
