Opinions please: Do you think the NHRA should allow wheelie bars in the street classes....
Just want some opinions....think that the new street classes (fwd and RWD) should be allowed to use wheelie bars? Remember these are supposed to be street cars here...
absolutely not. any car in the street class should be able to bolt on some streets and drive home from the track and be totally legal.

Agreed...same reason that lexan windows and fiberglass doors should be illegal....they're not street legal parts.

What? lexan isnt street legal?

Lexan is not street legal in any state as it will not be breakable if the need ever arises for a rescue and may cause you your life.
As far as the question at hand. I can't tell you how many muscle cars run around here with wheelie bars and parachutes, all street legal.
I think it will be more competitive without them so I don't see a need other then the fact that depending on what people build it can add safety by keeping the more highly powered cars from skating at the top end.

Nope nothing street class about bars, besides it takes the fun out of trying so hard to hook.Jason
whats the big deal about the wheelie bars? i wouldnt mind seeing it on a street class... for more traction, i say go for it.
I say no....I run street class and I think it would be unfair. Because they can load up there cars with wheelie bars in the trailers and go home. But the street legal guys need to be able to drive in and drive home. At my local track we just had state finals and for the street class we had a ten mile test run where it were 1 mile laps and if you broke down and could not get it back up and running before the pace car passes you then you were out and not allowed to run in street class. So at our track they would do that so they kinda knew if it was streetable cuz any streetable car can surely drive ten miles. Just my .02. Later Matt

I think wheelie bars shouldn't be allowed since they are not very practical on the street but fuel cells and aftermarket ecus should be allowed

What makes wheelie bars on the street illegal? I've seen pickup trucks come straight from the factory with longer overhangs than some wheelie bar setups.
no to wheelie bars... once u start doing that u are gonna have all out race cars which are just claimed to be street cars... which wont be any fun for the real street guys...
as far as fuel cells... i think they should be allowed... more and more people are having them nowadays... not as many imports just yet... but look at all the old school domestics on the streets... i see fuel cells all the time
