1996 Honda Accord LX 2.2L Idle Problems
I have a 1996 Honda Accord sedan sky blue 2.2L with only 132k miles on her, I paid $2,650 for her and drove 2 hours out of NYS to Conneticut to buy her. Problem is she idles high and low in drive and even worse in park. The high idling only happens after I have driven my car for at least 30 minutes. After driving for 30 minutes or more and stopping at a red light my idle reaches 1,500 to 1,750 RM's and also in park after driving for 30 minutes or more my idle goes up to 1,500 and even 2,000 RPMS sometimes. Please help any one, I have not cleaned the IACV but know it could be the cause, both my idle sensors on my throttle body top and back look clean and new, my throttle body looks brand new and the butterfly inside my throttle body is clean. What the heck is causing my high idle it's driving me crazy? I just bought the car and I am the third owner and I have put well over $1,000 to $1,500 in repairs and maintenance into her since I bough her . I put new NGK spark plugs and NGK cables into her, I took out the crappy Autolite spark plugs she had, she was leaking oil into the engine spark plug slots so I replaced all 4 O ring spark plug gaskets around the spark plugs and fixed that, I gave her a brand new head gasket around the entire top lid of the engine as well, 2 brand new front tires, a brand new oil filter, a brand new fuel filter, the O2 sensor on the catalytic converter went bad and I put a brand new O2 sensor into her cat, my oil pressure switch started leaking oil and went bad soon after and I just replaced it as well, I bought her two OEM brand new headlights because the old ones were foggy to death and were driving me crazy just looking at them she looks really gorgeous now with the new ones nice and shiny, my front radiator hose just ruptured and was leaking anti freeze. I pulled over called AAA who took an hour and a half to come and tow me to Autozone were I bought her a brand new radiator hose and put it on her, I changed her oil with the best Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 high mileage to keep my engine running at optimal performance and I changed the old distributor cap and distributor rotor. She drives like a dream and I love her lots but the damn idle is driving me crazy. P.S my AC also throws out hot air sometimes and cold air sometimes whats that about? Here's a picture of my car, my babe on my facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

Idle issue, check the FITV. There is a fix procedure in the FAQ at the top of the forum.
Hot air may be from sticking blend door, or heater control valve not fully closed.

I came across this FITV video on Youtube, is this what you were talking about?

could also be a vacuum leak specially one at the intake manifold gasket. check for leaks for with just water, or water and soap whatever you want, what you are looking for is a change in idle if none, i would proceed to cleaning everything. specially like mad mike said the fitv
Yeop.
If the gaskets are worn/cracked don't go them up. Just get new ones from the dealer. They are $3 bucks each but well worth the 12 bucks if your O rings are wasted.
