Default Falken Azena's At the 1320's

What are your reviews? 60fts? Setups?
Just curious, I was never a big believer of tires, but my michelins have had their last breath, bold to the metal. I need to get a set of good tires, quick and cheap. Vulcan tire has them for $63 a peace wich is a steal. Just looking for any feedback.

THE AZENIS were never meant for the drag strip. they do grip good for other uses but its not really a drag tire compund. it does help on the track a little since it has a softer compund. but generally, its not a drag slick, more of a road tire.

I pulled a 2.2 60' with stock suspension with 195/60/14 Azenis. True they're not specifically for drag, but large contact patches and soft rubber is always good for hooking up. Great all-purpose tire.

I remember seeing somebody comparing the weight of the Azena's to something else. How much heavier are the tires than the stock michelins or any other tire?

Damn, so the Azena's are that heavy then. It will probably slow me down the 1320's, but fug it, I got a good deal on the tires.

I dont think my 60fts will dramatically improve, I used to pull 2.0-2.1's on michelins constantly. I have pulled a 1.9 once but never again on michelins as well. I had nitto street slicks and used to pull consistent 2.0 and this is with an all motor stock gsr with no power adders. Either way, I ordered the tires and will give a review of them once I hit the track.

Any Ultra high performance tire can be good at the drag when using proper psi and stuff, a wider tire with a softer compound will be good no matter what, lol Psi makes a big difference, my stock re10's were horrible at 35 psi in the front for drag but i put them at like 24-25 and they were much better and i wouldn't think those are exactly a drag tire, more of an auto x tire, the compund isn't the greatest id say and they are pretty stiff lookin and feeling, and they were sorta small, the falken azenis is a sports tire for all purpose use, for auto-x, track, and drag it can be used for anything when using right psi and conditions....also look at its tread pattern, it has more big flat slick-like tread then lots of tires i see, of course pure slicks are the best, but these are one of the best for street and track use, lower that psi like crazy and the azenis will probably hook like mad, ive heard of 2.0 60fts with them at the Proper psi, it might have a harder side wall but lots of the tires nowadays seem to cause it helps with road noise and stuff like that....

Also i heard someone say the stock 195 re10's are like 20 lbs adn the azenis 205's are only like 22 lbs, not a huge diff really....

2.1 60ft with the pressure dropped to about 25 psi, i was impressed with how they hooked. I agree though, they were not meant for the drags but are stickier then most out there. They also help keep my car from spinning through 2nd in a first gear punch. I used to have the pirelli 700-z's and those things would just roast. This is my 2nd set of Azenis and I am thoroughly pleased

The Azenis are just a tad heavier than a regular tire. They were about 2 lbs heavier each than my old Goodyear tires.

I know 3 people here that i know that use the azenis sports but on diff cars and i talked to one of them and they use 16 psi in the fronts, he says it gets the best 60 fts and 1/4 miles times like that, he gets 2.1 60 fts out of a modded 2000 cavalier, thats awsome and he says thats one of the best times for his setup....apparently when you go under like 20 psi the side wall starts to loosen up a bit so it gives awesome traction i would go abou 18-20 psi when i get mine to drag....

Getting some good replies, I never dropped my tires pressure below 20 psi on any of my tires, unless I was runnin full out M&H's or Mickey's.

I've managed to get a couple 2.0x 60' times with a near pefect launch.. but most of the times i'd get a 2.1x 60'.. w/ a perfect launch and no wheel hop, i'm pretty sure I could manage some 1.9x times..

one thing i noticed with the azenies on my car is the fact that i tend to spin all the way through 1st gear, thus I have to ride the clutch until i feel the tires gripping, then I can shift into 2nd w/o going out of boost..

if i could go back and buy new tires, I probably would have gone with nitto 555r's or even better, the BFG dragradials..
