99 civic sir (idle drops when I depress the clutch)
Ok I have searched an found many threads an read threw but have never found an answer.
I have an completely stock 99 sir with 126,000 km (not miles) when the car is cold runs fine when up to operating temperature if I am sitting in neutral car idles fine if I blip the throttle the Rpms drop to very low but then picks back up to normal never dies but drops really low and idles rough. Same thing is I'm just rolling along come to a stop and just depress the clutch same thing. Idle drops down and almost stalls then comes right back up. But I did notice if I drive for a long while the problem goes away then I will randomly come back.
I had the car for one day did all highway driving did a valve adjustment the next day then noticed this problem. I set the valves between the tappets and the valve spring I have read you have to set them between the lobes but I think people are just saying that because it's so much easier.
If I find the problem I promise I will post when I find the problem thanks for reading

At has been well maintained I have all te service records from the first oil change. Cap and rotor and plugs were done at 80,000kms not sure about the wires just changed the air filter and set the valves I have been told iacv but every post I read that hasn't been the problem
Interesting..
My car did the exact same thing when I would tap the gas, or slightly hold the throttle.

Cleaning the IACV solved it. Not saying with 100% certainty that it's your issue but.. its definitely something worth considering.
Have you changed your Fuel Filter?

I will give it a try then can't hurt I will order a new iacv gasket the problem is the nearest honda dealer is 4 hours away and in working up northern Alberta in camp.
And no I haven't changed the fuel filter I'll try that too.
What did you use to clean the iacv I was told just regular carb cleaner is there anything better than that?

Do an alternator check. I've had the same problem and it was an alternator.
Check voltage with engine running and all loads off, whats the readings?
Also, check voltage with loads on (i.e. a/c, wipers, headlights, flashers, etc.), whats the reading?

Ok I am getting a guy to order a gasket for when I clean the iacv and a new fuel filter.
Checking the alternator would not be a bad idea either I'm not off for another 20 days so I won't get to do any of this work till then I appreciate the help.
I will definitely let you guys know if I get it fixed it's an annoying problem I want fixed before I go on my 5000km journey across canada.

Ok parts are ordered in going to replace fuel filter spark plug wires and plugs. And clean the iacv in a few days I'll update after the repairs are done
Update: replace the fuel filter and the plug wires used oem wires and a wix fuel filter.
The throttle response has increased with the fuel filter. The problem however was gone when I drove back to town from my work camp. Drove fine for an hour then when I took it for a drive again it was back then gone it's really weird I'm going to drive it for a couple more days and see where it ends up before taking the iacv off. I'm going to do a alternator check today I'll post results later on

You come in here with a problem a month ago, numerous posters suggest one specific thing to fix the problem but instead you needlessly replace other parts. One month after posting you say "ehhh maybe I'll check the iacv".
These threads boil my blood.
Lol I'll clean it tomorrow I'm back in camp. The only reason I held off was I read one thread somebody cleaned these and then there idle was all over the place. I really need my car for work and I'm way up north getting parts is impossible and if I need a tech it's close to 210 an hour
Don't fret too much about one thread who had a car where the issue continued after having the IACV. Their issue may be different than yours. Bottom line, IACV is usually the issue.
If you clean it, and the problem persists, it can only be a handful of other, easily repairable things.
Let us know once you clean it tomorrow how it turns out.

Ok guys first off sorry for being so friggen late. Between work and traveling the past month and so I finally got around to cleaning the iacv, new front brakes and oil change.
After cleaning the iacv same problem. When on cold idle at like 1800rpm when first started I hit the gas no problems. The problem is when it come off high idle up until at operational temp. Once up to running temp there is no problem. Only between warm up and running tempurature.
I did notice tho when I first start it it takes a few seconds to pickup to high idle it sits at 1000rpm and sounds like it's going to die for like 10s then slowly picks up to high idle. Any ideas would be great.

No I didn't adjust my idle. It idles fine as Lon as I don't give it a shot of gas. I don't want to take the throttle body off to clean it because the nearest dealer to get a new gasket is 4 hours away. I cleaned it with a rag and qtips the best I could
Dude........adjust the idle. It does not require you to remove the throttlebody. You can clean the throttlebody with it on the intake manifold.....
