1997 Honda Accord EX Check engine lamp on
Hi, I have a 1997 Honda Accord EX 2.2 VTEC. I just put a new engine in it. On account the old engine block cracked. I was driving it the other day and the CHK ENGINE light came on. I got it tested it came back as a P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. I put all new plugs and wires in. I also notice that the check engine light flashes on and off when I am at about 55 - 65 MPH and the engine is operating at approximately at 2800 & 2000 RPMs other than that. It will not flash on and off and I dont feel any difference in it what so ever. Even when it's at 2K RPMs i don't feel anything out of the ordinary. I went to scan it again today and now I have the following codes. P1300, P0302, P0301, P0706. Some one told me that the valves in the engine could be causing it to misfire if this were true, wouldn't the acceleration along with the fuel economy be really poor? I'm averaging 32 MPGs and that is just going to and from work on country roads. some city driving mixed in. It started off with cylinder 1 now both are affected. The donor engine came out of a manual and mines an automatic. but I don't for see how that should make any difference. Any how some one please help I greatly appreciate it. thanks

But again, since I have no experience with engine swaps, maybe it is no issue at all doing what you did and your problem is legitimate. I do have a lot of experience chasing codes, however, and I'd have to say that if your car is running that well (if I am getting any more than 20 mpg on my 2.2 I'd be shocked) and you don't notice any problems, don't worry about it. It's just annoying having the light on. Hope that helps a little.
P.S. I wish I got 32 mpg on my car. I sold my F-150 and bought the damn thing mainly for better fuel economy....so far it's been a minor disaster.
