Default D16z6/y8 maximum hp within 91 octane?

So i live in phoenix, arizona and they dont sell 93 octane here. Just 91 & 100 but the 100 is like 8-9$ a gallon. I dont really want to turbo my civic because it will be a daily driver. So my question is what is the maximum hp i can get out of an all motor d16z6 or d16y8, while staying in the 91 octane level. And which motor would you suggest? An what compression ratio exceeds the 91 octane level req?

D16z6 is the better motor. At least better oiling of the crank. With an NA motor, even spending lots of $$$$$$$$$$$ your only going to gain a few HP from a single cam. By time you spend all the money to make 50 extra HP, you might as well buy a turbo kit.

Ok well then I might just go turbo. But how much hp or compression can i SAFELY go while still using only 91 octane. And if i decide to do a little mixing with the 100 and get maybe 92-95 octane. What compression ratios am i looking for in comparison to the octane levels. (Safely, this will be my daily drive)

anything is safe, as long as it's tune properly to what your set-up is and you use the same octane gas. as far as turbo, you don't want to go any higher than 10:1 compression. but I don't know enough about building a turbo motor to have a good say.

Let's say i didnt spend the money on the internals and just went straight to a turbo with a 3" exhaust, aem CAI, and a skunk2 intake. I hear the d16's are pretty damn strong. So how big/powerful of a turbo could I go without changin internals? And how much hp would I achieve if i went that route?

180-200hp reliably. D series are ******* weak. They have sloppy noodles for rods even compared to a stock b series rod.

Btw, theres a bunch of e85 pumps out here in phoenix if you google them. Still wont help you since you wanna run stock internals

And research more. You wont have that aem cai with a turbo.

You would also use a tiny tiny turbo to make the power without making it laggy and boring
