Icon2 94 accord f22b1 having shifting problems!!!

Okay... I recently was hammering on my turbo accord and went to slam 3rd and missed and went into 5th, then in a desperate attempt to get back to 3rd I was being very forceful with the gear leaver and clutch, I did get it into 3rd shortly after that. The rest of the ride was fine 1-5 working perfectly. Then when I reached my destination I had NO REVERSE!!! This wasn't a huge shock being that it happened about a year ago as well. So on the way home again 1-5 was fine and when I arrived I still didn't have reverse.... So I began to look at the linkage, and from the stick to the firewall everything was fine. Tracing the cables further to the selectors on the transmission no noticeable problems... however the rubber bushings on the end of the cables look rather worn out being that they are 20 yrs old and have 133,000mi on them. So I was able to play with the selectors on top of the transmission by hand and cycle them through all the gears 1-5 and put it right into reverse... Since then the car has been going right into reverse without any problems. HOWEVER now it grinds slightly going into 5th on an up shift???? ANY IDEAS??? Could it be the linkage cable bushings???

Okay thanks, that's what I was thinking. But are those cables adjustable?? I didn't look too closely to see if there was adjustments on them. And when I went to Valley Honda one of the technicians said that they did NOT have adjustments?
