I am gathering parts and doing research, preparing to build my B20 engine.
Head:
P&P P8R head,
Crower 62405a cams w/ proper valve train
Hytech replica tri-y header
Type-r intake manifold
70mm t.b.
3" intake out of the bumper w/ Blox v-stack
Block:
85mm Arias pistons 14:1 compression (~13:1 w/P8R)
Brian Crower lightweight sportsman rods
89mm stroke crank
Everything weight matched and rotationally balanced
Type-r oil & water pumps
I am contemplating whether I should just purchase main studs, most likely ARP, but I do like how the z10 and golden eagle studs have the nodules on the ends of the studs, and align hone of course. Or if I should purchase a 3 main girdle as well, which will add to my build cost a bit, but also more high rpm stability.
I don't know how high I'll have to rev with these cams, but I'll take it to wherever it stops making power, if that is 10k rpm I will take it there. I am building this engine to race at the occasional test and tune, the car is mostly a weekend vehicle, and doesn't get beat on, on the street. So should I just purchase the main studs and align hone to strengthen the bottom end up a little. Or purchase a girdle and all necessary components needed for it to work.
My car currently runs 13.650 @100.45 with my current setup. I am shooting for mid 12 second passes and 215hp or so. Am I over thinking my parts list for such modest goals? I am worried because my crank will be turning such big pistons.
Thank you all in advance.
