Default Hello, all. New kid on the block, here...

....and a chick, so please go easy on me, okay?

I have a lovely 2007 Honda Civic LX that my late hubby got me, in 2007. I love this car! I get 44 MPG, it drives great, looks great....well, LOOKED great. Let me explain:

I work in a plant, where semis come and go with parts all night long. I parked on the end of an aisle, 2 weeks ago, only to clock out and find my passenger rear view mirror missing because a semi had SCRAPED the front right side of my car. In the process, the trim along the bottom of the window was bent and ripped off, and the paint was scratched in spots. I have rubbed alot of the white pain scrapes out, and used some touch up pain, so that is not a big deal. My question now? I'd REALLY rather not take the car to a body shop person. I know some of those slimy guys see a woman and think, "yeah! TOTALLY take advantage!! $$$$$$" No! Is it possible that I can replace the mirror and the trim along the bottom of the window/top of the door, myself?

Thanks for your patience in advance, all. I really appreciate you listening!

How ridiculous it is for you to think that just because you are a woman that they will automatically take advantage of you. If you are a stupid person then you allow yourself to be had on your own.

The dealership still sells brand new parts for your car. From the sounds of things you can't afford this option just like the body shop.

Junkyards may have an item or two. Places like LKQ are your best bet and will be cheaper than any of the other alternatives listed above. Good luck.

Yes, the mirror and window trim are easy to replace. The clips break really easily on the trim when removing it. If you're set on avoiding a body shop, you can buy a new mirror from the dealer and they come prepainted. You can buy either just the outside part or a whole new assembly (that way you don't have to disassemble and reassemble it). Check http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...catdisplay.jsp for lower dealer prices than what you'd usually get at your local one.

If my car was damaged at work by a coworker, there's no way I'd be paying for that out of pocket.
