Default Electric window woes on 94 accord

I just replaced a window motor on my 94 accord. While trying to test the motor off the car I could not get it to work. Do the motors have a ground wire or are they self grounding once installed? Also once I installed it it works backward (goes up when switch is in down position and vice verse). There is only one way the plug connector will fit so I don't know whats up with that. It works great just backwards. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The ground and power "switch" between the wires. Meaning that if you apply power to one wire and ground to the other the motor will move in one direction. Switch the wires and the motor will move in the other direction.
