Default Those in VA...general car q's

Hi all,

I'll be moving to NoVa very soon and was wondering a few things about car registration....

1. How does auto registration work in VA? Do you pay a flat fee or is it based on the value of the car?

2. Does VA have yearly auto inspections? Emissions tests too?

thx...

Cheese~who noticed there is a d00d with a 98 ITR with mf10 knockoffs in white in his new apartment building.

Yearly safety inspections (~$15-$20), emissions every 2 years I believe ($28) & it must be done before you register your car. The fee for registration is also a flat fee.

btw...don't even think about bringing that ITR to NoVA unless j00 have a garage to keep it in & some serious security on the car.

And emissions is only in NoVA. None in Richmond, Got to love that!

Thanks for the info. That doesn't sound bad. The prices are very cheap compared to PA.

So is theft even bad in the way out, suburban areas?

I'm not really too concerned though. The ITR is for sale...in a garage...in a gated community.

It's not so bad now since they are in the middle of phasing out the property tax on cars completely. Further reductions have been put on hold though due to budget issues. If I remember correctly, I paid $255 this year. It's paid annually.

Thats not that bad. $255. When are they expecting to phase it out completely?

Where do I go to register my car? Can I go to the DMV building in my town?

That will be easy then. Do I have to have a VA license to register a car in the state?

Invest in the best ******* alarm you can find. The theft rate around here is incredible.
