Default 04 type s transmission

Bought the car a month ago.

Doesn't get into third sometimes, feels like i shifted incorrectly or not in all the way. Have to shift hard into it and even then sometimes that is not enough. Only happens to third.

Records show the clutch and fluid was changed two years and 20k miles ago.

What can I can look for? It doesn't have a cold air intake, so its not hitting anything.

cable bushings could be going bad...
or it could just be that its a honda transmission and they are known to have third gear problems

On top of the transmission. The ones that are at that end of the shift cables. Hybrid racing makes some good replacements.

3rd gear is a known issue in k-series trans. What shifter are you using?

If the car is off, is it still hard to shift into that gear?

I assuming is the original shifter. I recently got the vehicle.

No, even while its on its not hard. Sometimes, it just wont engage. I would shift into third and if i feel that it is not fully in, i would take it out to neutral and shift it back. It doesnt grind when i shift into it and i shift hard into it just to make sure i got it in, but it is when i let go off the clutch pedal is when i realize it is not in gear and i hear that sound that no likes to hear

third gear syncro is probably bad, thing that sucks about K transmission is you have to buy the third gear syncro and hub together
