which tire should I get??
I've limited my choices down to these 2 tires. the Bridgestones are only about $30 more, total, so price isn't really an issue. both get good ratings on tire rack, so I'm looking for some opinions to sway me one way or the other.
on a daily driver, 195/65/15 I expect them to grip well in the dry, and be decent in rain and snow. I want something that is predictable at the limit, and lets me know when I'm close to it as well. I do 85% highway driving. and throw in some spirited romps on the back roads. wear is a factor, since I put about 700 miles a week on the car, but both have good ratings, so I doubt that there is much difference. these are going to be the only wheel/tire combo I have. So I can't swap them out for something different in winter, don't bother suggesting it

KES 712??? Khumo Ecsta Super???
If thats the one then they dont make them in a 195/65/15. 6th gens have a different tire size than 4th/5th gens. closest size they make is a 205/55/15 which is about 1/2inch too small. closest match would be a 225/55/15 but I don't see that listed either. well thats all off of tires.com. so if anyone has a better source let me know, but I think they are out

Go with 205/55-15. Your car will be a little quicker.

I highly recommend these tires, however. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....num=06HR5ES100
last year i got a set of dunlop A2 in the exact (OEM) specs that your looking for on my 6th gen. I live up in Toronto so our winter is relatively harsh. Anyways, put on the tires just before winter, had absolutely no problem. I'd see cars, during snow storms, tailing in and out on the road. But as for me, i was really confident in the tires and experienced only a little slippage. Now in the spring, i put on H&r race and tokico adjustables (dont hate), in opinion these are outstanding for the street. Anyways with my new suspension set up i was killing it on the turns, but the dunlop A2's were so predictable and reliable. They stuck to the road like white on rice. I still have them on my ride with decent wear, cuz i cant afford new rims and tires yet. And im still keeping up with preludes, celica's and even type-r IN THE TURNS, now coming out of the turn is a different story.
Yeah, i've got the 950's and i could really care less for them. They are good in wet weather, and very quiet too, but that is about it.
If you want them for some 'spirited driving' they really aren't worth it the side wall is way to soft IMO. I used to have Miche XGT h4 (great grip, but were done after about 10k miles) and with those i could easily corner 10-15 mph faster than what i can with the 950's and i've got stock suspension. All in all i guess the 950's are good if you want a pretty long lasting all season tire that looks cool, but don't expect anything great from them.

High performance and snow wont mix no matter what tires you get.
I say go for dunlop A2's. I've had them on all my cars. Great wear. Xlnt grip. Better price. Expect them to last 25-30k consistently depending on your driving style. Granted, no snow here but they are worth it. Never had a flat/blowout.
After this set, I have a full set of AVS Intermediates stacked in my garage waiting to be mounted...(tire rack sale). After the rains....summer fun...woohoo.
I'm curious Brandon...what's your vendetta?

Both tires are very good for the money. The Dunlops would be better for snow and Bridgestones seem to better for driving hard from what the reviews say. I'm a Dunlop user and I like the price and peformance they give. I have D60 A2s and SP5000s.
As for tire size go for 205 60 15. A 205 55 is what 90-97 Accords can upgrade too. The 205 55 on a 98+ would be too small.

go for dunlop sp a2 for OEM replacement (size available in tirerack = 195/60/15)
and dunlop sp 5000 s for one step upgrade. (size avail. in tirerack = 205/60/15)
sp a2 is around $50-$60
and sp 5000 is $65

wow.. everyone has such varied opinions.. i read nothing but good reviews about the dunlop sp5000's, then when i mentioned them to a couple of my friends who race, they weren't too keen on them. said they'd heard some bad stories. i guess it just depends on where you are and your driving style.
jweller, i've got the kumho ecsta supras for my summer tire and i've been enjoying them. can't wait to get rid of my stock '02 tires though. they slip so much! let me know how your dunlops are.

where you live, kgaccord, in new hampshire, i'd imagine you get a fair amount of snow, and the sp5000's still hold up for you? i can't decide if being in virginia with less snowfall, but also crappy clearing of roads would even out each other out.
and yeah, my kumho's are strictly summer use. once the temp starts to drop below 50degr they get packed away.

The problem is you get retards buying Kumho 712s and...driving with them in the snow and say they are crap.
