Is there any way you can talk to Yonaka about coming out with headers as well? I mean just look how well their coilovers and exhausts have been flying off the shelves. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of us on here interested, and if they want a guinea pig I'll volunteer my V

^kinda busy atm but I can def. try again later in the day today or asap and see what they'll say now, now that they have proof

if they do I'll ditch my aftermaket downpipe I just got and get me one for sure!

 

Just got done modifying my Toda replica header to clear the transfer case the other day otherwise I would have been down haha. Oh well.

Count me in. My PLM Tri-Y Big Tube didnt clear, ended up pulling the transfer case.

 

Well duh haha... if the Toda doesn't clear none of the other's are even remotely close. The only one that is more biased towards the driver's side is the Toda design. The rest of them hug the transmission.

yeah I would buy these. even starting to think about the exhaust.

 

Wouldn't any b-series header fit this car, I'm saying for all the FWD people. I know the AWD will need to modify the downpipe a little.

 

Yes since all the FWD transmissions have a block off plate where the transfer case is. However, there are a few designs that would really be cutting it close like the Hytech Big Tube or SMSP style. The RMF Narrow would possibly be close as well. None of them are even close to fitting without serious modification done with the RT4WD transfer case installed though.





Here is a pic of how much I had to modify my Toda replica to clear the transfer case. Even with this modification it only clears by 1/4" at the most...

one of the H2B guys has a header on his and it clears the transfer case without modifications. can't remember which header it was though

Do you realize what an H2B kit does? It moves the transmission further to the passenger side while maintaining the the engine in the same position due to the adapter plate. There is built in clearance already... I studied every manifold picture I could find of different headers mounted on engines to make my decision. If there is another option I would love to know myself since me and a friend were thinking of possibly doing an AWD - EK. Even with my header clearance I can't use the stock transfer case stiffener and the angle was starting to get so bad it was going near the cross-member. Given, I have a 3" exhaust from header back, but I can get my hand around it and that is about it. The transfer case sticks out more than most realize forcing the exhaust to be much too far to the driver's side.

 

The transmission/ drivetrain does not move, it's the motor that moves.

 

I don't think you understand what my point was. I am not talking about in relation to the engine bay as this thread is specifically about header clearance. The exhaust ports don't change locations because you install an H2B kit, nor does it give any better crossmember clearance. The transmission gets pushed further away from the exhaust port centerline giving more clearance for a header since it is built around the cylinder head location. It is obvious that the transmission doesn't move as a H2B swap would require custom length axles...

So any b-series header should work for FWD guys but its the AWD guys who have to get there's custom and shifted towards the driver side to make it work. Wow very interesting.

 

I understand your point I was just correcting your statement.

 

Okay so the t-bracket is still holding onto the tranny, this is the h2b swap crv we're discussing ATM, so technically the motor does get shift to the driver side. Technically that would clear about what 1.5 inches of space, depending on thickness of the h2b adapter. But wouldn't that angle the b-pipe towards the drive shaft and hit it? I don't know which way the exhaust got route.

 

The h2b crv rerouted the exhaust to the other side (from right to left, if you're looking from the back)

 

With a H2B kit in place you will only gain a 1/2" of additional clearance.
Like I said, the drivetrain doesn't move. It's the motor that moves to the left a half inch.

it was a Bisimoto header that he has on it and he said it cleared everything.
