Icon2 D15B7 onto Civic Ef Hatch engine swap

Hi there guys!

I just bought a mint stock ef with 28300KM which is a D13B2 engine and its an automatic

I also have another civic in my hands which has a D14A1 engine in manual.

I am now trying to figure out if it is worth it to swap the D13B2 with a D15B7 3-stage-vtec engine. Is it a difficult task and as regarding to fuel consumption would it be better than the D13 if kept at 3000 rpm?

Also will the D14A1 gearbox fit the D15B7. If not where's the best place to get a manual gearbox and an ECU? I tried searching but I'm a bit confused on what parts I need.

This will be my build thread if this succeeds

Thanks!

It's a difficult task, not impossible though (Swapping the 3-stage VTEC). I have never heard of the D14. I assume it's probably not a common motor here in the states. Your best bet is to do a lot of searching. If fuel economy is a big concern for you, a manual trans and the B2 is really a great place to start.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. What do you mean by B2?

The D14A1 is a dual carb setup with 90bhp. These were mainly on Civic GL series / Sedan and Wagons. I'm sure the gearbox is compatible with my D13B2 so best bet would be to swap that out with the D13. I was wondering if I just can put the D15B7 without interior modifications. Do I just need the engine harness or would I need to strip the whole car down? And not to mention that I would need a fuel pump in the petrol tanks I guess since it would be fuel injected. Cheers!
