Default LED cluster?

Muh civic's dimmer switch is broke, I wanna bypass the whole dumb thing and use some LEDs in my cluster instead.

I'm gonna be going to a scrap yard in the next few weeks to pick up a dash w/ a tach. Before I install it I wanna put some blue or green LEDs in it. Is there a DIY write up for this? I couldn't find it

I dont want it to look like this, though. I want the brightness to look even and professional. Not barely visible in some spots and really bright in others.

I realize being an armature and expecting a professional quality result is counter intuitive, but it is what I desire.

please help me out here

Ok.

The quality of your result is entirely dependent on the quality of the LEDs you use. You want a perfectly even distribution of the light, like the stock incandescent bulbs would have, and which most LEDs don't.

This is one of those things where it really isn't worth the headache. Just use good bulbs, forget about LEDs entirely, and you won't have any issues.

Other than novelty, what do LEDs offer here?

This is the main discussion that people ask when worried about consistancy. Its a hit and miss and you will have to spend money to play, to get the effect that your looking for. Not everyone buys from the same place...for instance, you can buy LEDs from just about any company that sells LEDs, but no 2 companies will sell the same output of an LED.

Some companies that sell LEDs
www.VLEDS.com
www.DiodeDynamics.com
www.superbrightLEDs.com are just a few

Save your money and headache and just replace the dimmer switch

I tried a superbright led strip in my itr gauge and it was nooooo good. Back to incandescent for me. Try led just to appreciate incandescent. Where I DO like led is in the map/dome/trunk lights.
