Low mileage transmission issue.
I have an 02 accord 4 cyc, auto with 44000 on it. The transmission fluid was changed at 24000 and last year at 35000 ( all transmission services were done by Honda). This afternoon I was taking my wife to the doctor, and the car was shifting weirdly, not smooth, it had a little bump when it shifted from 2nd to 3rd. The real sign came when I went in to reverse and her a quick slight grind. It did this every time I went from either park to reverse or from drive to reverse. I checked the fluid which was at the correct level and pinkish red. After her appointment it seemed fine. It shifted without any issues, and no problems going into reverse. I'm thinking of taking it to Honda for another tranny service. Any thoughts on what's going on? Anything I can do to prolong its life?
That's odd for a low mile transmission. Any check engine light coming on? Wouldn't hurt to have the honda shop check it out. Considering they have been doing the work. Seems excessive to change the oil sooner than 50k miles
No CEL lights and the D4 light is on steady.
I changed the oil not becuase of milage but due to age, $100 in preventive maintance is cheaper than a tranny or so I thought.

Well mr500 changing your fluids at 10k intervals isn't always helpful. Is the honda shop just selling you on service? Check your manual for service intervals and make sure you aren't over doing it. I have heard from various honda mech not to flush the fluid but a simple
Change shouldn't harm it I wouldn't think. Is the car still doing the same thing or is it an intermittent issue?

I never said I had the tranny flushed. Old fluid is can be just a dangerous, fluids loose their chemical packs with age, thus the reason for two services a year a part. As far as the transmission goes, it happended that one time. Once the car was shut off it seems to work fine. Just wondering whats going on.
We'll the reason I brought up the fluid change interval is due to honda recommendations being much longer than what you're following. The manual states 30k or 24 ,months for the worst possible conditions and 72 months and 90k for easy driving. Changing it can cause some issues but this seems to be intermittent. The rough shift could have been related to a vehicle or engine sensor in my opinion. The ecu must know your demand\load and other variables in order to calculate shift points. It's possible the signal was intermittent or some unknown reason during that one shift. I would not worry unless it becomes reoccurring
