00 Civic HX coupe - Rear Window Rubber Trim/Weatherstrip?
ive looked all over and i cant find anything on google or youtube about the back glass rubber strip for civics.
I have a leak that is getting a pool of water in my trunk and I noticed my rubber trim (weatherstrip?) on rear window (back glass) of my 2000 coupe HX has a 2 inch hole where the trim edge chipped off on the corner of the bottom passengers side and the corner of the top passengers side has broken and the top half is coming off the corner.
Is this thing a weatherstrip that keeps water out of my trunk/back glass or is it just a trim for looks? Either way I need to replace it because it is ugly and broken.
I don't have pics here at work but in the morning I will add a couple.
1. Would this cause a leak into my trunk? I can see the hole in the metal where it is coming inside the trunk but cannot find a definite source.
2. When I replace the trim strip, does it just pop in around the window or do I have to have the whole glass removed, trim replaced, and glass replaced? (please tell me I won't lol) If it is a pop-in DIY then are there clips anywhere?

To answer #1, there is a rubber seal and track inside the trunk for waterproofing. The window trim shouldn't affect leaks into the trunk.
I don't know answer #2 off the top of my head, but if you download the service manual it will have the steps to replace the window trim and whether you need to take out the glass.

Thank u for responding!
I will check my trunk lining then, thanks. Maybe check for hairline crack in the metal...
I'll try to google a service manual for my year civic. Hope it's easy to find. And hope it has this info
