Default K23a1 Head onto K24Z7

I've ran across a RDX long block and haven't found any information on this, I'm guessing to how new the K24Z7 is to the fleet of K-series motors out there. I know that the K23 head will not fit onto previous K-series motors due to different drain ports and coolant passages in the block, because of this it has lead me to wonder if the k23 head will fit on a k24z7 block.

The descriptions of the K23A1 that I've read about also seems to describe the same designs of the new Civic Si's motor, such as different coolant passages, oil filter on the bottom, so on and so on. I can't find a thread anywhere where someone has taken a k23a1 head gasket and laid it on top of a k24z7 head gasket.

It's just a theory that they might mate up, whether it's beneficial or not is a different story and would prefer not to go into that, as far as I know it hasn't been done, if even possible.

I guess I shall prepare the flame suit.

How about you go out and get one each if those gaskets and see if they match. You could answer your own question and provide info for others to follow.

no many people really bother with the k23... when the k24 can easily make more power!

Only way to answer you question really is for you to try it bud.

Yeah I was more posting it to find if anyone has lined the head gaskets up, or if there was a thread anywhere.

The only advantage of the k23 head over the k24z7 (please note the z7 part) is to get away from the integrated exhaust manifold. It just got me thinking since so many similarities of the two motors and I couldn't find anything about the k23 head gasket matched up to the z7, figured it was worth a shot.

Ya I understand where you are coming from and it does bring a valid point.

The issue is that the k23 wasn't a very popular swap so not many people ventured that way.

In time I'll probably post a gasket line up of the two head gaskets, right now I need to find the spare funds to do so for the community, unless there are any contributors that also want to find this out as well.
