ticking noise when accel
When I accelerate, my h22a engine ticks. The faster I go, the faster the tick gets. I constantly smell exhaust fumes in my car, so it may be a header leak. Last year, the honda dealership adjusted my valves to spec. Also, I am still running 5w30 engine oil from the winter(thinner oil in winter is better). So maybe I should change the oil with some 10w30 and see if it goes away. because its getting hot here in ontario, canada.
My valve seals may be leaking because I get some amounts of smoke while idling
This tick noise seems to just be a tick. I dont see any difference in the way the engine performs. Its all normal. Just a tick.
Thanks guys

Thicker oil can quiet down some noisy rockers. Take off the accessories belt and see if its the actual engine or not making the noise. If it is, recheck valve lash. If its still there check for rod or wrist pin bearing next.
Hope its nothing serious, GL.

also i forgot to add that when i got my valve adjustment, one of my cam lobes were rounding out. that was a year ago, so its probably even more rounded now.

Ok, well, then you'll need to find a mechanic with a smoke machine.
The only issue you'll have with seafoaming is if you let the car die. The key is to do it on a cold start when the fitv is working to hold the idle high. Then use the brake booster hose and pour it in very lightly. It's when people do it when the car is warmed up and they pour it in like they're filling up the fuel tank is when people have problems.
You only need to pour in a little and it will smoke enough to see it leak out.

Could just drop the entire exhaust and inspect it without smoke. Then just replace the gaskets with new ones while its off, and put back. It would be the more labor intensive rout, and may be cheaper then a shop. Doing so would for sure fix it, if that is whats causing the problem.
I plan on replacing the complete exhaust anyways. header all the way back. This one is very old. The header is DC and i bet its leaking.
