well my mini swap died on me.
On my way home from a long work day, and what do you know...car died on a turn in the middle of a busy intersection. Typical honda. Luckily made it in a parking lot of Cash for Gold. Went to check for spark, and noticed my cam all f`d up.
Guess you cant use a Y8 camshaft in a z6 head lol. Stupid me for believing stupid people.

I said eh itll be fine... was fine for a week, even hit vtec and everything. Then the cam gave out along with the gear. I now have a z6 cam and stock gear, and the car turns on. So i dont think it was the dizzy.
Myself and 2 other people tried to tell you the head was junk in your other thread here https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/can-b2-camgear-fit-z6-camshaft-3196507/
Dont go blaming honda or other peoples advice for your fuckup

Yeah that was on my wagon, theres a huge oil leak somewhere.
But now i have that same z6 head, with that same camshaft, i sanded the part that got scraped, its pretty smooth, my car runs pretty good, idles always been a hastle tho.
Now when i crank by hand, it doesnt bind up, like it did with the y8 cam z6 head combo.
I mean the first time i snapped my cam gear, it was because of lack of oil, but this time? Oil was fine, timing was good, ignition timing the same, idle was poor tho, i performed a leak down test, dont have any bent valves. Idk how the cam gear got messed up.
My friend whos honda savy, says its a bad combo to use a y8 camshaft in a z6 head with a b2 block, sure it ran, but something was bound to happen.

So you've broken two key ways with the same head and blame the cam? Sounds like installation error somewhere. Plenty of people have run similar cam setups for years with no issues. What did you torque your cam assembly at?
The top bolts of rockers at 16 and the small ones at 9, the cam gear 28. Well sometimes certain setups work for some, guess i got unlucky?
I mean, when i had my b2 converted to mpfi, it was perfect. Put in an a6 cam, and i could rotate the engine by hand easily. Then i used y8 head with adjustable cam gear, and it was good too. But i used a gay ebay head gasket that gave out on me after 2 weeks.
So me being low on cash, and worried that the head might havewarped, i put my z6 head on, but then i was also worried about my z6 cam( that got scraped in another setup), so i used the y8 cam with z6 head. After everything was mechanically timed, torqued head bolts in 3 steps, rocker arms torqued, had the journals lubed, i cranked the car 6 times by hand, and it was hard, had to use both my arms to try n rotate it, but i had work in a few hrs, so i said f it, and it ran fine for a week, and bam cam got schewed up, the camahaft seized, wasnt the dizzy wasnt cuz of oil, so idk
Im running my z6 head, z6 cam, z6 dizzy, and it runs fine, excepy i have really low idle and im scared that itll die on me, with my family in the car.
