Honda genius' my Accord is apparently in "limp mode" or something similar? Not too sure. It's throwing the code for the vtec solenoid (can't remember the specific code right now) but it's causing my car to pulsate when trying to rev above 3900 rpms. I have since changed the vtec solenoid, same problem. I traced the continuity as stated on alldata all the way back to the computer, no issues. I've swapped out the computer with a loaner that is not having the same issue, same problem. I've heard of there maybe an issue with the head for whatever reason?!

Help!! No idea where to go next.

Check your battery cables for connectivity and resistance. Have seen them be a culprit. Also oil level, engine temp etc can play a role in the issue. Make sure all systems that are needed to activate vtec are present and working correctly. The system is designed to not allow you past 4k when the solenoid is not working correctly.

 

check for codes

 

Check your ECT sensor. It's right above your distributor. If it's broken or unplugged or bad it can throw your car into LIMP mode.

 

​​​​​​​have u ever taken out the motor n put it back in or anything unplugging the wire harness, cuz I put a new motor in mine, (5 speed not auto) n the plug for the vtec pressure switch looks identical to another plug right next to it
