Default 1991 STD Civic Hatch Build?

Hey guys! new member here, this is my first car, a 91 STD hatch I bought for 800 bucks. It feels great buying your own car at 15. I have already started doing little things here and there. First, was a just a clean and fixing some ghetto wiring, then started doing interior and exterior things. First was the bumpers which were ugly and faded decided to test out my painting skills, I think they came out pretty good. Then some amber corners it was missing. The guy i bought it from was running it with no airbox had to get one of those. Polished the fart can and painted the rusty steelies. Also the passenger side axle was clicking and replaced that. Gave it a nice wetsand and polish aswell.

Yes I rattle canned the bumpers, there not perfect but im still working on them. The engine is a DPFI B15B1 but its very healthy and runs great.

Small update, installed a wink mirror, and mugen replica shift ****. Also doing small matainence like alternator belt and some gaskets. Found some nice polks at the junkyard for 20 bucks Having a problem with the battery dying over time, its not the battery (had it tested) or the alternator, pretty frustrating but ill find it sooner or later. Just kinda annoying to unplug the battery every night.

Battery may be bad terminals or connections resulting in battery drain or bad charging from the alternator.

How much are wink mirrors and what's the appeal? I guess it would be nice to see everything behind you.

Yea pretty sure there is a bad connection somewhere causing the drain. The wink mirror was 20 bucks, I guess the appeal stems from the retro feel, and practicality. Also more room for stickers haha, but not a fan of that.

$20 and bolts to the sun visor area? Could you link me. Definitely interested due to my rear view mirror being 'missing'.

Cheapest I found

http://www.amazon.com/Rally-91515-Original-Wink-Mirror/dp/B000CPIH1C/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1E17ZJ2MKSF13KAGX89J http://www.amazon.com/Rally-91515-Original-Wink-Mirror/dp/B000CPIH1C/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1E17ZJ2MKSF13KAGX89J

Pros about the mirror:
Very wide view of rear, can see lanes to both sides of the car.
Didn't have to do any drilling.
Acts kinda like a sunvisor.

Cons:
Mirror vibrates at idle.
Takes a little while getting used to seeing yourself all the time.
Need to remove sunvisors to install.

Honestly its all preference, however I like how it looks and the visability it provides.

I doubt you know me, but I have a riced out EF. The visors were spray painted so I'm going to have to move that to a plus. haha.

Thanks a lot though. You got the 5? Free shipping on $35+, Guess it's time to order some oil filters!

You'd be the first to say that besides me. Thanks.

Did some reasearch as to why the battery is draining. I had the battery and alternator checked and they are fine. Looked at all the grounds and they are all there with good contact. The aftermarket headunit that is has, turns on without the key in the iginiton, making me think its always live, and thus draining the battery. This seems to be the problem.

The constant power for memory and switched power are probably making contact or something. Pull the head unit out and check. One is yellow and one is red iirc.

Well I was partially right, the constant 12v wire was connected directly to the constant power of the stereo. I also found that the igniton switch wire has no current, making me think that is the reason it was wired directly. So no radio for now but disconnecting it seemed to fix the problem of the battery dying overnight.
