Can someone explain to me why or does a power steering reservoir need a baffle? I understand that the fluid expands after it's heated, but how/why does a baffle help? I've seen some aftermarket ones with and some without.

 

keeps frothing down I believe.

 

I'm trying to come up with a cheap but effective design. Looked at the internal one for a dodge and the bottom port has a big "L" so it would come in from the bottom of that L and have to go up over the top then there is another baffle somehow that it goes around to come out the other port.

 

i normally make a screen a few inches from where the fluid enters the reservoir. just cut a piece of aluminum and drill a ton of holes

 

I know I have had a Nissan that shoot PS fluid up like old faithful without the cap and some quick side to side turns of the wheel. It was without a baffle I think.
