Grinding noise coming from the right front infrequently?
Ok guys, I know there are a ton of threads that are sorta like this, but none of em sound like the same symptoms. I have a '95 Accord EX coupe with the 2.2 and I heard a bad grinding/whirring noise coming from my right front and I had play in the wheels so I assumed it was the wheel bearings (the car has 199,XXX miles on it and I don't think the previous owner was smart enough to replace em). I have had both front wheel bearings replaced along with upper ball joints. I got in it today and was cruising down my dirt road to the neighbors house and heard it again. Before the new parts, I heard it at low speeds (maybe 30 MPH at the most) accelerating, decelerating, and sometimes at start-up, but they were all infrequent. It wasn't guaranteed to hear it every time. I assumed that the start-up rattle wasn't related to the sounds during driving, but I'm starting to have my doubts. What should I look at? Thanks in advance guys.
Since the bearings were replaced you could check the brake backing plates to make sure it didn't get tweaked just enough to rub against the rotor, make sure the caliper itself is tight as a loose caliper or caliper with a broken mounting bracket bolt will rub on the top of the rotor (or possibly the wheel) and of course check simple things like making sure the plastic inner fender hasn't come loose.
