96 civic D16Y7 start/running issue
We're at our wit's end over this.
Initially, car would turn over but just wouldn't start. Figuring it was a bad coil, we tested it. Out of spec so we replace that, along with cap, wires, & plugs (they were old), No Bueno. Testing the spark, only getting good spark from three of the plugs, plug one gives off a weak yellow spark. Until we tried without a plug in no.2, now we get good spark in no.1. still haven't solved that, but we tried looking at other things as well. Timing belt, compression, fuel regulator, engine ground...
It's not throwing a cel.
We have gotten it to at least idle (barely) backfires badly, eventually stalls.
We replaced the entire distributor, all the engine grounds... out of ideas.
Any suggestion?
