Default Transmission issues

Hey guys, Im Having issues with my tranny and wondering if youve had the same problem or any advice would be appreciated.
I have a 1988 civic wagon 5 speed cable. I was driving down the road and i was just cruising and I pushed the clutch in and it made a loud pop and my clutch pedal went to the floor. I thought it might have been the cable but it wasnt. The lever that the cable pulls up is loose. plus when the car is turned off it goes into all the gears and once its running it doesnt go into any gear. I got other peoples opinions and it might have been the clutch throw out bearing blah blah. So i bought clutch pressure plate throw out bearing and changed it one weekend and its still doing the same thing. i thought it might be the fork but the fork and spring looked fine. the fins on the old pressure plate were also fine.
So any help would be awesome thanks

Look at the actual pedal bracket. It sound like it broke.
Or the cable broke

well I change the pedal bracket about a month ago. When it happened the cable was pretty much maxed out. So maybe if I get a new cable and tighten it up past where it whatever poped maybe itll disengage could be jamed or something.
The lever is still loose though like it feels I can take it all the way untill it stops. That's why I was thinking about getting a new one to get the cm I might need to engage the clutch.
My friend said the cable needs to be super tight like pliers tight. I'm not sure though.

with the motor off u should be able to push in all gears without even touching the pedal.. cant say its healthy but u can do it

as for the problem stated, did u snap or bend the shift linkage or something...? no expert on trans but a loud pop implies a snap more so then a bearing going bad

I can go through all the gears while the motor is off. The shift linkage wasn't broke or bent the best of my knowledge. If it were bent you couldn't go through all the gears while it was off correct?
