Default 2001 honda accord slight clicking

2001 honda accord with f23a4 it has a slight click no check engine lights but the sounds get louder has you hit the gas. I was told it can be one of two things 1.The oil pump is going out or 2.The valve lifters are dirty. Of course i;m thinking about doing the one the cost the least 1st so they said to get some additives and put them in the engine and see if that helps. What do the honda gurus have to say? should i just get a valve adjustment. I haven't done anything to it yet. Any advice will help. its my wife's DD.

I don't think your car has hydraulic lifters, but you still may have noisy valves. Its very hard to narrow down odd noises, HFreight has those mechanic's stethoscopes for very cheap. It might help you out a bit. Since I'm no mechanic, and have heard the good and bad regarding additives I won't comment on them.

excessive noise could be a leaking exhaust manifold gasket .. u could seafoam and look for white smoke coming out at the leak
