Default overheating

I have 2000 accord ex 2.3 vtec. Radiator hose blew other day coming home replaced it still overheating. Replaced thermostat still overheating. No water in the oil but appears to be oil in radiator and pressure in radiator. Compression is 180 on all cylinders. Is this still a bad head gasket or head with good compression?

I think the concern is, you have air in the system. And by opening the bleeder bolt, it will allow the air to escape.

Ensure you have no leaks, and system is full. If so, make sure both upper and lower radiator hoses are hot whenr unning. If they are, then your thermostat should be working. If not, then suspect it. Id check those things first.

Do the bleeding and Absolutely check the fan. My 2002 Accord had a funny fan problem where the 2nd fan work 'sometimes'. Turns out the motor had a dead spot and worked once in a while. Easy way to check is to turn on the AC. It would not turn on all the time. When I tapped the fan, it turned on. There is a post if you have a fan problem.

Please post back if you solve the problem. Helps the rest of us.

it will relieve any air in the system since you didnt originally bleed it properly when you refilled the coolant

just crack it open half a turn and close it when air stops coming out very easy to do its a 12mm bolt on top of the thermostat housing

Finally got the problem fixed. When it overheated the head warped slightly. Resurfaced head and a new gasket it fixed it up. Thanks for all the help
