Icon2 2000 Civic WONT Accelerate!!!

I have a 2000 Civic, all stock. When I press on the gas pedal the car wont accelerate sometimes. Usually if I let up and press again it accelerates. The problem seems to be worse when the car is cold. I have changed plugs, wires, and tried different positions with the distributor, yet the problem persists. Any ideas? Thanks guys

Auto and I believe my CEL is burned out. I did have the local parts store check for codes and it turned out a code saying misfire for oxygen intake when it shouldn't have been getting any. My header was cracked, so I got a new one with no cracks. But it still has the issue.

Remove cat converter and drive it around the block to see if the issue is still there.

Why? If burned out or removed, move one of the working cluster bulbs to that position until you get a new bulb.

Click the Codes link in my signature and learn how to pull CEL codes at home. Post the CEL code numbers.

I spoke with a Honda dealership tech and they said if the car is not reving high when the problem occurs, then it is not the transmission. They suggested a throttle positioning sensor malfunction... To add to the description of the issue: I only experience this once per time I start the vehicle, typically on the second acceleration and only if I am accelerating slowly.

Reset the ECU to whether all or any of the codes return after a drive.

Update: I tried an easy fix and disconnected my oxygen sensors. The car now runs rough at idle but NO MORE problems with the acceleration. I guess I just got a bad oxygen sensor(s).
