Default why does my speedometer moves slow on the gauge while accelerating?

searched already, car is 90 crx, i just put a new speedometer cable, i had a friend / mechanic help with connecting it right where it goes on the transmission end, and it works, except that it moves slowly ?

when accelerating from a stop, you see the needle on the speedometer move slowly up the gauge, like its about 10mph behind the speed your going ??, but once i hit the highway and am going one steady speed, such as 60mph, then it seems to work ok, cause it does'nt have to move much of a range.

what can be causing it to do this ?, its a new cable ?, could it not have been connected the right way on the transmission or something ? or could it be the way i routed the cable ? and be bent a little somewhere ? when the guy was working on connecting it to the transmission, he asked to borrow a 10mm socket wrench with an extension or 10mm wrench, and he was loosening / tightening some 10mm nut right near where the cable connects on the transmission, but not sure what he was doing exactly ??, could he tightened something too much ? or what ?

any ideas ? i just like to have it work normal so i dont have to worry if its showing the right speed or not that i'm going, so i don't get a ticket.

How many miles are on your odometer? My friend had an 88 dx hatchback and the speedometer would only read about 15 mph when we were driving 60 mph. We replaced it with a brand new oem honda cable and had the same problem. We ended up getting a cluster from a junkyard and swapped it and it works fine now. I believe the speedometer was old and didn't function as it should have anymore.

the odometer reads 246,000 miles, and the main reason i got a new cable was cause the old one was making a squeaking noise behind the cluster, which was annoying, and i could'nt fix it, its possible it could be something with the cluster, cause i have messed with working on it a lot, usually removing it and pulling it out without taking all the stuff you supposed to take off first, and also removed all the little bulbs so i can paint them with red testors paint and stuff like that, or the cluster could be old and have some issue inside ? but i know i heard it click down when connecting the end of the cable on the back of the cluster, and as far as the end connected to the transmission, that guy did that for me, and wonder if he did'nt connect it properly to the trans side could it cause it to spin slowly or anything ? or is it one of those things where you either get it connected right and it works ? or don't connect it right and it does'nt work or move at all ?, or could it be the vss gear thing under where the speedo cable connects into ?
