Hi guys, Im starting a thread on my homemade cheap exhaust build! Im going to reuse some old piping and some new piping and create something pretty cool for you guys. Cat is already deleted, exhaust is removed, so now its making the new one! Im excited! Keep checking for updates, ill post some pics here very soon. So far im going to keep the stock header, and the first flange everything else will be much better. all going on a DB8

 

Do yourself a favor and get new materials.

Reusing old piping can be a pain.

 

I know i should, but I'm tight on budget right now and just want to reuse until I can get some new material. I really want to make like my own twin loop replicated like the mugen twin loop for the gsr. but until then, i have to work with what i have :/

 

I second this, welding old piping can, at times, be a pain.

 

If it has any kind of coating, don't use it.

Aluminized steel, ceramic or otherwise. it wont hold well and will likely crack.

Ihad the pleasure of being tasked to weld a crack in a manifold that had been ceramic coated... it was a real pain in the *** and im not confident in it. even ground down the ceramic was precipitating out of the joint.

 

stuff just gums up when trying to remove it as well. fun stuff to work with on repair jobs
