Picking A Clutch Kit
hey guys noob to honda's here. im doing a engine swap in my widebody eg hatch. i have a h22a4 that i pulled out of an auto lude. i pulled the auto tranny off and picked up a jdm t2t4 prelude standard tranny. it did not come with a clutch so i am looking to buy a clutch kit. i dont know much about transmissions so if someone could tell me what im looking for like if i went to my local import part store would i ask for a prelude clutch kit and i want to buy something better then stock as well. i was looking at a couple on ebay but i want to make sure they would work before i buy them. thanks!
Exedy stage 1 should give you a good feel, pressure plate is stiffer than oem. I rather not describe the stiffness because it will vary from user to user.
The friction disc isn't even really different, it's the padding behind the friction disc. For Exedy OEM clutches ("stage 0", if you will), it's a full-faced, standard clutch with padding material between the friction material and the disc itself. This allows for more gentle engagement at the cost of decreased torque load, because the padding material allows for separation between the friction material and the flywheel. For the Exedy "Stage 1" kit, they simply remove the padding material, giving the clutch a little bit more torque capacity.
OP, you can't go wrong with Exedy. If you plan on leaving the motor completely and totally stock, get an OEM kit. If you plan on basic bolt-ons and maybe a tune, get the "stage 1". ACT, Clutch Masters, and Competition Clutch also have good options. For a "basic bolt-ons" build, you would be looking at the SPSS from ACT, the FX100 from Clutch Masters, or the Gravity 1500 from Competition Clutch. If you're looking at any form of forced induction, go ahead and throw all of those out the window - you'll need something stronger.
Also remember that clutches don't care about horsepower, they care about torque.

i guess body kit back and front bumper. but i call it a wide body for the rear and front wheel wells. and im grabbing an exedy oe replacement thanks everyone!
I'm going to hope you got it like that....why not run some 16x10 wheels with 195's stretched over them at least then it would have something going for it reposted PIC since OP failed on link.
Me too, if nothing else, some wheel spacers to give the effect of wider tires.
I like the shape of that body. It definitely seperates it from all the stock ones out on the road.
Oh well, everyone with different tastes.
