Hello, i have a DC HEADER for a D16 just to top part that connects to motor. I want to know what am i to do to get it to work with my stock pipe. My stock header is short and has a catalitic convertor connected to it brforr it 90's to the exhaust system. At the shop they have a 96 ex exhaust that will fit my piping underneath without catalitic coverter but the top piece header is not dc header. Can i use a aftermarket header part on a stock down pipe. The dc header i have is good ,could i swap the top pieces?

 

what d16 motor do you have?

 

He had a 2000 Civic, with a catalytic converter in front of the engine. That means he has a D16Y7 (or at least, a Y7-style exhaust). Also, OP, that means your car is an EJ6, not an EK. Yes, chassis codes matter in the tech section.

You say you have "just the top part". Do you have this, or just half of it?



If you have that whole thing, you can bolt it on, and get a new catalytic converter from a 96-00 EX, and you'll be good to go. If you only have half of it...where the hell did you only get HALF of a header from?

 

My brother in law worked at a shop and had it laying around, yes just the top half 4-2 the headers are long than my stock by height. I just wanted to put good use to it.

Yep, you need the complete unit. On the plus side, pretty much all of those bottom pieces are the same across all of the knockoff manifolds. On the down side, it's not as simple as "I'll just use this because no one else is". You'll need more than just the bottom half, and the other things you need can start to get pricy real quick.
