Jdm b16a with p30 cranking but not starting?
This is my first time posting a thread so hello honda addicts! I have a 94 civic sedan that has a jdm b16a 2nd gen which doesnt start but cranks. It had a p28 with hondata and it was running perfectly fine but since my brother took it I had to buy an ecu for the b16a. I installed his other ecu from phereable.net which came from h22a1 but it doesnt start the car. I recently bought a p30 which is the original ecu for the jdm b16a and still doesnt start. So my question is do I need a different ecu? If the car had a p28 before, do I need a knock sensor or bypass it since the jdm p30 looks for a knock sensor? Thanks in advance
You need a different Ecu. A P28 will work obviously but there may be others that are also compatible. Get Hondata installed in it and you can disable the knock sensor.
You can use any civic or integra ECU to start a B16 engine, they all operate the same on idle and crank. If it's not starting on any of those, you probably have another issue.
The P30 will run just fine even without the knock sensor, so use that for troubleshooting your real problem.
