Spoon Springs EK9 Dampers
Can anyone give their experience with spoon progressive springs on EK9 shocks? I can get this setup $500 shipped to fit my EK3. The plan is to later get the Spoon Dampers to go with the springs. It's a used setup. How would these compare with Koni/GC?
I had Spoon progessives and fixed dampers on my EK4, they replaced Koni dampers and Tanabe springs.
Now, while the Tanabe's aren't exactly performance springs (they were too low for the spring rate), I personally found the the Spoon setup to be significantly better.
Where the Koni's would ride harshly, but yet still be soft when leaned on hard, the Spoons rode really well, even despite the fact that spring rates were 50% more in front and 100% more in the rear. As well as riding better they'd also keep up when you turned up the wick, I found the setup simply astounding over bumpy British B roads, the car was nigh on untouchable in the twisties, it was that composed!
Also found it to perform well at autotests, maybe a touch on the soft side for quick transitions, but the all round excellence in other areas more than made up for it. I'd have another set in a heart beat, but I can't get them for my ATR. The fact that they are not adjustable is simply not important. They don't need to be, Spoon knows what works best and set it for you.
Not that I wouldn't buy Koni's again, but there's a lot of other places I would look first.

Yes they're not low, they're more like a 'Sport Pack' OEM option, but actually it's better for performance and ride. Going low is just for aesthetics, and personally IDGAF what it looks like to scene kids, what matters is being able to drop their shitty slammed rides in the corners.
