I am looking to get into a Honda, where do I start?
Hey guys. I am looking to get into the honda world, I am not new to building cars I have built a sunbird 5 speed 3.1 liter and a 94 3000gt VR4 TT. After some incidents and accidents I am looking to start a new project.
I am looking for the highest model obviously but what is it exactly. what is the best car to start with? best engine. I do not care if I have to do a swap and I am very familiar with flash tuning and turbos.
Is a K20 the best motor. why ? and why not? My over all goal is sub 12 second car. I understand this is going to require a lot but that is fine.
my 3000gt ran a 12.4 on DR-650's, FMIC, 272 HKS cams, CHROME ECU, megan coil overs, Tial BOV and about 300 pounds of weight reduction.
what will it take to get whatever honda I buy into 12's and lower.
where should i buy parts and how much does a sub 12 second honda build cost.
I have no problem dropping 15k+ into just the build (not including car cost) I just want it to perform well like my previous builds.
thanks guys.

What kind of chassis are you looking to get into? You can find cheap Hondas on craigslist all day.
There are a lot of engines to choose from. All of them have the potential to be sub 12 sec cars, especially if you have the cash for it. There's D series, B series, H series, and K series. K series is the newest platform and has a great aftermarket.

Well I am looking for anything 2 door, hatch or not does not matter, the car will be gutted except the dash. what is the difference between red top and black top? Which series is best know to be reliable. it will be fully built anyways but I do not want to find out after I build the motor that it is known for crank walk, valve float, or oil pump failures. besides the s2000 are there any rear wheel drive or AWD? I am fine with FWD if that is my only option.
