Hey all, I recently installed 15x8 with +25 offset wheels with 225/50/15 tires on my 1995 honda civic ex two door coupe. I still had to raise the car a considerable amount for the tires to clear my rolled fenders. Now that I have raised the car up, my natural negative camber has gone away and the tires poke ever so slightly past the fenders. It isn't horrible looking or gaudy (IMHO), but it pokes enough to bother me. Would a camber kit be the right choice to fix the problem? Thanks guys

 

You basically have the following options:

1) Buy a camber kit and induce enough negative camber so that your tires tuck inside your fenders. This will probably give you the "cool guy stanced" look but will hurt how the car handles and tracks (will follow every little groove/line in the pavement). Also you'll want to get an alignment, which sounds stupid if you're purposely ruining your camber, but if you don't adjust your toe accordingly you will eat tires within weeks.

2) Buy narrower tires and "stretch" them a little so that they tuck inside the fenders, I don't know much about what is a reasonable stretch so you'd have to research what size can safely fit on an 8 inch rim. Same as option 1 where you're sacrificing tire contact patch and handling for the look.

3) Pull your fenders, rather than just rolling the lip actually pull them out more to give you more room. This is a little risky because if it's not done right it can look like quite a hack job and very wavy. If you go this route I'd suggest seeking professional help so you don't end up with really messed up fenders.

4) Get rid of the wheels and install something that actually fits on a Honda. I don't mean to sound rude, but I don't get the whole low offset trend. You end up with all the negatives of driving a lowered car but none of the performance that would normally come with a stiffer and lower ride, all the while chewing through off-camber tires like crazy. But if that's what floats your boat then all the more power to you.

Those are all the options as far as I can see it, the choice is yours on how you want to address it.

 

Honestly the poke really isn't all that bad... I don't think I would need very much camber.

And tbh I'm not realy looking for the stanced hellaflush look, just a rim with some lip and a meaty tire.... I'd post pics but I don't know how to on here with an iphone

 

Yes you can use a camber kit to get negative camber to tilt the top of the wheels back in. That is a pretty aggressive setup for that car. Since you have no pics and you are asking a question this belongs in a tech section not appearance, most likely in the Suspension and Brakes section

 

I have 205 50 15 on the same rim size and dimension and there is very little stretch. I'm getting a 195/50 next because it could still use a little stretch. I would go down some on your tires IMHO because the rim size and offset is perfect I think. and even with the 205 you will clear quite a bit and still have a healthy tire.

Well if you're lowered without a camber kit then you already have some natural negative camber, and if that's not enough to fit then you'll be inducing even more negative camber to fit them.

Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder and what you like, but that rim and tire size to me would look like a 4x4 unless it was the "hellaflush" look. And I'm guessing if you were happy with how it currently looked you wouldn't be asking about how to fit them better.

I think you need to decide if you're more concerned with function or form. Functionally the meatier tires are nicer, but you don't want to have to pull a lot of negative camber to fit them. Camber isn't such a concern if form is more important to you though. If cost is no issue then going to a 205/50 and cambering just a touch is probably a happy medium.

All guards are rolled and I would say the fronts have a little more space then oem just by pulling at them with my hands a little (few MM)
I run a decent amount of camber (hardrace arms) since it is my weekend/track car.
-4 front -2.7 rear. Keep in mind the A050 tyres are massive R comp tyres so 225 streets (rs3 for example) wont be as wide.

wheels are 15x8 +32, I use a 3mm rotor spacer on the front for the dc2r brakes and use a 5mm spacer on the front as well. So fronts are 15x8 +24

 

with 205/50 or 225/50 rubber?

 

In the photos above it is 225/50/15 advan a050.

Street is different again. (shown below)

15x8 +32 wheels
5mm spacer rear (+28 effective)
10mm spacer front + 3mm rotor spacer (+19 effective)
205/50/15 Federal RSR.
-4 front, -2.7 rear.
