1991 Honda Accord EX- Potential Alternator Issu
Hey!
I am sure this has been asked many times in these forums, but a search isn't yielding me meaningful results.
Last night my trusty honda died on me. For two days- the battery light was flickering on and off. I was intending to have my mechanic (my dad) look at it this week. As I was driving down the road, the speedometer stopped working and then the car died shortly after. I turned a corner and turned the car all of the way off. It then acted as if the car was dead.
I am presuming the alternator went out and therefore, wasn't charging the battery any longer. So two things:
Links to posts about how to diagnose if this is an alternator issue?
Links to posts on how to replace an alternator that has went completely out?
My father had a car that was similar and essentially has fixed every component on it, however, sometimes this extra support is helpful when problem solving specific issues that may arise.
Thanks!

when car is running, with a multi-meter check the volts at the battery. if the volts are below 14.5 you more than likely have a bad alternator. I just had this problem on my civic today and had to get a new one. 115 dollars later. problem fixed with a new alternator.
check the faq sticky at the top of the post page in the gray.
so much easier to change on an accord than this dang civic.
