Default 2000 Civic Torque converter clutch question

Ok I have done a bunch of research on this and still came out empty handed I have a 2000 civic lx Automatic I was driving to work one morning and I started feeling my car vibrate on acceleration and the feeling kept getting stronger. Then my check engine light came on and the vibration comes on only when acceleration and goes put the computer to read the code and it throws out p0740 Torque Converter Clutch Failure but after all my research can it really be the torque converter. Has anyone experience this issue? and it's not alignment problem or tire balance or any of that the car was perfect until this happen please lmk if u have any idea what this can be thanks

There should be another code following that.

Reset your ECU and see if it comes back.

I guy came into my shop a couple of weeks ago with the same problem, vibration and a cel, we checked the code, it threw a p0740, we cleared the code but a day later the problem came back up, we checked the torque converter and it was fine, turned out to be the torque converter solenoid, we replaced that and no code so far.

I don't have my FSM in front of me at the moment. If one of our other diagnostically-minded members haven't gotten to you by the time I get home, I'll find the related pages and give you the walk-through for it.

Blindly throwing parts at it is definitely not the correct way to fix the problem. A simple voltmeter should be all you need to properly diagnose the problem.

So I was wrong, a voltmeter doesn't help, you need a pressure gauge, but you should be able to buy/borrow/rent them.

Does the vibration increase with speed, or does it increase with RPM?
