Why wont Ebay cat-back fit my sedan?
Found this Cat-back exhaust, muffler, and header combo on Ebay, but it claims it WILL NOT fit a sedan. Why? Is it just that the tip will be too short? In that case couldn't I just extend it? I'm pretty sure the guy I bought my 91 sedan from put a hatch muffler on, because the tip does not reach the bumper at all and is hidden under the car.

i had the same problem one time. A catback system that was being listed for a sedan and it was just too short. ended up sending it back to be refunded got screwed on the shipping. went down to honda and bought the stock muffler. way better choice. honda knows what they are doing. 18307-SH4-A21 is the muffler for the ex. it has nice flow and sound. if you are running a d series that is a nice piece that i believe is still available from honda.
eBay cat backs never fit right. Made the stupid decision to buy one after my stock system rusted off the car. They sound ricey and you have to do a ton of cutting and welding to make it fit just right.
its not that the cat back doesnt fit, but the 88-91's come with a exhaust directionalizer?? its a part after the header before the cat that positions the exhaust down the middle of the car.. its prolly about 5 or 6 inches short without the piece right? i had to get one off another car to do mine.. so that may be what your missing
The mid hangers will either need to be moved back to meet up with the sedan hangers or just add a set so u cud use it on either crx hatch or sedan. The rear hangers can be used and the tip will be under the car a bit. And yes it short of meeting the cat. I made a piece from spare exhaust i had around the garage. Im currently running the exhaust i had on my crx before it was totalled, on my dd 90 sedan.

Exhaust directionalizer? Lol
As stated, the mid pipe on the sedan is longer due to the longer wheel base. An exhaust for a hatch or crx will be too short.

The wheelbase between the hatchback and sedan are the same it's just that the sedan is roughly 12" longer than the hatch due to the rear bumper being longer. Here's the dimensions I found.
HB:
Length: 157.1 in.
Width: 66.3 in.
Height: 52.5 in.
Wheel Base: 98.4 in.
Sedan:
Length: 168.8 in.
Width: 66.7 in.
Height: 53.5 in.
Wheel Base: 98.4 in.

You guys need real world experience and not here say... it has been years but the front needs to be extended by 10-12" and the rear 6-10" or maybe I have those backwards either way nothing like hacking up a legit Tanabe system for a CRX haha. The hangers all work fine otherwise aside from maybe the rear. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the axle back modification but you do it right after the last bend when the exhaust exits out from the car. You don't want it to be under the trunk as noxious fumes will come into the cabin.
Thanks! I should be able to make it happen, but will shop a bit more. I can't seem to find any good exhausts for a sedan, any suggestions?
